DTS:X Ultra | Windows Desktop App

DTS licenses multiple audio enhancement technologies to Window PC manufacturers so that consumers can enjoy high quality immersive audio experiences over headphones and with the built-in speakers. To help simplify the technology integration effort, DTS creates “reference” apps for users to change advanced DTS audio settings – which manufacturers are free to integrate as-is or to modify as they see fit.

With this project, the Product Management leadership asked us to design an app with “sizzle.” Something that would excite gamers on higher end PCs.

Final Version – Main Screen

The app offers an immersive visual experience targeted towards the likes of gamers.

Early Version

An early stage, feature-heavy mockup. The app would be simplified in the final version seen below.

Listening Device Selection Screen

Users are able to select their listening device for optimal audio enhancements.

Graphic Equalizer Screen

This app features a 10-band graphic equalizer where a user can enjoy different EQ settings. Once the user finds what they like, they are able to save the EQ settings as a preset by simply clicking the ‘Apply’ button.

Personalized EQ: Listening Test Screen

This app features a personalization test that finely tunes the audio spectrum for the user based on their input.

The user hears a different audio frequency at each step, and is asked to dial down the volume until they can barely hear it any more. After completing these four steps, the DTS Headphone:X technology can estimate a user’s hearing range and optimize the audio for that user.

About Screen

This About Screen features marketing copy and outbound company website and social links.

DTS Off Screen

The user is free to turn off all DTS enhancements on the device. Rather than just showing the UI controls in a disabled state, a message is revealed explaining the benefits of the technology.
